In 2006, just before the housing crash, I managed to buy my first house. In spite of the economic downturn I discovered that owning a home transformed how I was viewed in society and how I felt about myself. OK… that probably sounds a little over the top but, let me explain - Owning a home caused banks, credit card companies, and businesses to perceive me as a “reliable risk”. It became easier to get credit and qualify for loans. But, on a personal level, I felt more secure about my finances because I knew that I had equity in a home. My hope is that I can help other first-time homebuyers experience the same “shift” in perception.

Raque Kunz

Raque’s love and appreciation of homes and their innate uniqueness mirrors his love of different cultures and meeting new people.  He sees homes not as a ‘thing’ to be used but as a relationship to be nurtured. Growing up as a military brat and later living and working in positions overseas, Raque has been able to celebrate and engage with people of many diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Through these experiences Raque developed a skill set that is well suited to real estate. He honed his negotiation skills negotiating with foreign NGOs and government organizations while working with Doctors without Borders and the US Peace Corps. He put a fine edge on his construction skills and understanding of architecture while renovating houses in Austin, San Antonio, and Atlanta.  He whetted his financial knowledge working with investors to purchase real estate. And, he sharpened his design skills working as a decorative painter, interior decorator and ultimately designing kitchens for a major home renovation retailer. Raque brings that experience into every relationship with his clients, helping them see the potential in every property and achieve their real estate goals.

When Raque isn’t climbing into an attic or exploring under a house, he spends his time skiing, making pizza dough from scratch, or composing songs about his dog Cleo.

Community Spotlights

PAWS ATLANTA

PAWS Atlanta saves the puppies and the kitties. Need I say more?!! They work tirelessly to make sure animals find forever homes instead of being senselessly killed because they are a burden for an animal shelter. There is a special place in heaven for people like that!

I volunteer and play at Decatur Makers. Decatur Makers is a non-profit community workshop that is educating youth and eager adults in the joy of making cool stuff. Learn how to use a 3-D printer, CNC router, a Laser cutter and so much more. This place grows creativity!

IRC in Atlanta

I have volunteered with the IRC (2008-2009) and I worked along side of them in sub Saharan Africa in Tanzania (Nyarugusu Refugee Camp) and in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. The IRC does amazing work helping refugees, who in my mind are the most marginalized people in the world – they have no country and therefore they exist in a limbo at the mercy of political good will of their host nation and the UN. I witnessed first hand families surviving in the limbo of refugee camps for 30 years. Children that were born into these camps were grown and had families of their own and yet they had no ability to leave the camp and no resources outside of the camp to advocate for them. The IRC represents these people helping to relocate them to new countries and to help them get established.
