About The Community

Peoplestown is located just about a mile south of downtown, in Atlanta’s urban core. First established in 1885 around the city’s railway line that ran along Capital Ave, today The Beltline (Southside Trail) is attracting people back to this small, transitional neighborhood. Named for former landowners, Peoplestown has gone through various racial, cultural and economic iterations, including a redevelopment plan drawn up in the 1990’s. Revitalization projects such as DH Stanton Park, Four Corners Park and the Georgia Stadium (formerly Turner Field,) are now focal points of the community, which also boasts an active neighborhood association. Surrounded by Summerhill, Grant Park, Chosewood Park and the Westside, it’s just 10-15 minutes from the airport.
